The 15th Annual New York City Poetry Festival
Campaign, Identity, Signage and Environmental
For the second year in a row, I have partnered with The Poetry Society of New York, a nonprofit dedicated to bringing the impact of poetry to those seeking more creative lives, to create a refreshed campaign identity for their annual poetry festival. When creating the yearly program calendar, PSNY’s Chief Program Officer, Tova Greene, envisioned this year’s festival as water. With this in mind, coupled with the theme “A Modern Odyssey,” the campaign identity was created to reflect water as a meeting ground for wanderers and poets. Additionally, the identity is colorful and vibrant to evoke the fun, sundrenched feeling of a summer day. The theme of “A Modern Odyssey” also carries through the illustrations. The waves create the features of Greek statues, referencing The Odyssey as a piece of poetic tradition. Graphics were created for social media promotion leading up to the festival, as well as signage and environmental graphics for the festival itself, transforming Governors Island into a poet’s modern Ithaca.
